My theoretical perspective is shaped by the McGill Model of Nursing. I draw on psychodynamic and attachment theory, and incorporate emotion-focused therapy, cognitive-behaviour therapy, interpersonal therapy as well as solution-focused therapy into counselling. My education and training in nursing and medical science, counselling and psychology, as well as theology and spirituality ensures that I understand clients from a truly wholistic perspective. Because early life experiences are influential in the way we understand and relate to the world, counselling may involve exploring unresolved issues from the past if they have lead to difficulties in your present life. Most of the emphasis in counselling is on the here and now. You choose what you want to work on. The majority of our work together will consist of talking about the issues you have presented. Counselling provides you the opportunity to talk openly and confidentially about your concerns and feelings in a non-judgmental environment.
