Qualifications

I have a Masters in Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor. I have specialized training in EMDR/Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy/ Gottman Couples Therapy and Cognitive.

Practice Description

I believe that even the most difficult of life's challenges contain within them opportunities for growth and change. Often at these times it is easy to lose hope and feel defeated. I work collaboratively with my clients to establish clear cut and reachable goals. This usually results in a reduction of symptoms and restoration of hope within a short period of time. My approach is grounded in the belief that people change within the context of authentic, caring and supportive relationships. I help people uncover their strengths. as well as support and encourage them to explore themselves more deeply in order to make choices that will lead to a healthier and more fulfilling life.

I have been helping individuals, couples, adolescents and their families from a diverse range of backgrounds for over twenty years. I am a counsellor for the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP), providing therapy for victims and families affected by violence and crime. I have facilitated groups on trauma, adolescents and relationships and taught a course at Douglas College for five years on working with Adolescents.
