This is the most rewarding part of my practice. A huge proportion of the distress experienced by people with physical illness/disability is emotional, 80% suffer from depression. While depression and anxiety often accompany chronic physical illness, these are not mental disorders, and they are highly emnable to specialized psychotherapy. Relationships undergo immense strain, the risk of divorce doubles, a tragedy. Loved ones are seldom offered counselling, yet this can be highly beneficial to both parties. My psychotherapy can be described as integrative (I use many different modalities) and experiential. Insight is useful but not sufficient, we undergo change as a result of our experiences. I do my best to provide the right balance between support and challenge. I do not provide "crutches". Additional Information I do not prescribe psychoactive medication. If patients are taking, or wish to take such medication, I do not interfere. I offer resources to patients who wish to discontinue such medication, with minimal difficulties.
