I hold a Master of Social Work Degree (U of T) a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a certificate in Family Studies (SFU). Additionally, I place a high value on careful listening, empathy, professional ethics and accountability. I utilize a collaborative, strengths-based approach. My theoretical orientation is integrative; I seek to purposefully select a therapy, or therapies, which best suit you, your situation and your beliefs about personal change. The therapies currently influencing my work include: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), client-directed outcome-informed therapy, humanistic therapy, mindfulness approaches, dialectical behaviour therapy, systems theory, solution focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy and feminist therapy. For over a decade I have worked in mental health settings, both inpatient and outpatient. Most recently, I have worked as an employee assistance counsellor. I have been practising meditation for 15 years and have taught meditation to both members of the public and clients alike. Additional Information My professional experience has focused on helping those with significant depression and anxiety including major (clinical) depression, treatment-resistant depression, postpartum depression, bipolar disorder, dysthymia, panic disorder, OCD, phobias, generalized anxiety, PTSD and social anxiety. I also have extensive experience counselling individuals with borderline personality disorder. Life transitions, grief/loss, addictions and stress management also bring clients to my practice. GLBT clients are welcome.
